Welcome to DeSoto County Fire and EMA

Our main goal as a department is to save lives, prevent injury, protect property, and educate our citizens on proper emergency protocols. These reasons allow us to help our community survive disasters, both natural and man-made, by utilizing the expertise of the men and women in the DeSoto County Fire service and Emergency Management. We accomplish this mission by establishing community wide readiness through public education, risk assessment, planning, and inter agency communication.

Open Public Meeting Advertisement for DeSoto County Hazard Mitigation Plan

On, the DeSoto County Board of Supervisors will hold a meeting to adopt the MEMA District 1 Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan which includes DeSoto County and all of its incorporated municipalities, as well as several other neighboring counties. This plan is intended to help protect the citizens of the county and any reduce risk to hazards.


The public meeting will be held on Monday February 6th, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.., in the third floor boardroom of the DeSoto County Administration Building, 365 Losher Street, Hernando, Mississippi. The plan is available for public viewing and comment online at the following website:
