Due to inclement weather, the event has been rescheduled for April 29th

On April 29th from 9:00am-3:00pm, DeSoto County EMA, DeSoto County Fire Departments, the American Red Cross, and other community volunteers will be going door-to-door to check and install smoke alarms in the unincorporated county. According to the National Fire Protection Association, in 59% of home fire deaths, there were no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms.

If you are interested in having new smoke alarms installed or your current alarms checked, you can contact us at 662-469-8411 or tkuntz@desotocountyms.gov (please include "Smoke Alarm Event" in the subject line). If you leave a voicemail or send an email, be sure to include your name, address, phone number, and whether you wish to have alarms installed or checked. There is a limited supply of alarms, so work will be done on a first come, first served basis.
