New Year, New President

At the first meeting of 2018, the DeSoto County Board of Supervisors elected Supervisor Mark Gardner as the new Board President for the upcoming calendar year. While many local governments seldom change Presidents, DeSoto County has a longstanding tradition of rotating Presidents each year.

Supervisor Gardner will take over this position from Supervisor Michael Lee, who served honorably throughout his 2017 term as President. "I enjoyed the opportunity to serve as President, and it was an honor to do so to serve the people of DeSoto County," said Supervisor Lee.

In addition to the change of Presidents, Supervisor Lee Caldwell was unanimously elected to serve as the Board's Vice President in 2018. The Vice-President also changes annually.
