Changes to Free Paper and Cardboard Recycling

Since 2013, Mississippi Recycling has provided free paper and cardboard recycling to DeSoto County residents by collecting these items from the County’s fourteen drop-off locations. However, in recent years, the value of recyclable commodities has greatly decreased, resulting in increased costs for waste management entities seeking to dispose of these items. Due to increased disposal costs, Mississippi Recycling has announced that they will be suspending collection from the County’s fourteen locations.

While we are sad that this program is being suspended, we are proud of the fact that county residents still have options when it comes to recycling. DeSoto County is the only county in Mississippi that offers curbside recycling to all households.
