Executing Warrants
The Fugitive Unit is responsible for the execution of outstanding warrants issued in DeSoto County.These warrants consists of felony and misdemeanor warrants that originate from the following courts: 

Circuit Court
Justice Court
Chancery Court
County Court
Youth Court



Fugitive Unit
Fugitive officers are also responsible for assisting the general public as well as attorneys, bonding company representatives and/or other law enforcement agencies in the answering of questions and inquires pertaining to outstanding warrants and general information relating to the Fugitive Unit's operation. In addition, it is also the responsibility of these officers to handle walk-in arrests, mental and drug writs and warrant arrests within the courts. 


Fugitive Task Force
The Fugitive Unit also participates in the DeSoto County Fugitive Task Force which consists of officers DeSoto County, Horn Lake Police Department, Southaven Police department, Hernando Police Department and Olive Branch Police Department. This unit assists each other in apprehending wanted individuals within the DeSoto County limits. 

In addition to participating with the DeSoto County Fugitive Task Force, the Fugitive Unit also participates in the United States Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force (GCRFTF). This task force is located in Oxford, MS and currently consists of full-time Task Force Offices from DeSoto County, Tate County, Panola County, Lowndes County, Mississippi Department of Corrections, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Mississippi Bureau of Investigations and Inspectors from the United States Marshal Service. The primary responsibility of the task force is to assist federal, state and local agencies in apprehending wanted fugitives for violent offenses to include but are not limited to murder, armed robbery, rape, escape and dangerous drugs.
