Duties & Responsibilities

The DeSoto County Road Department is directed by the road manager. The road manager is appointed by the Board of Supervisors.

The county is divided into four divisions, each managed by a Road Foreman. The Road Department maintains more than 650 miles of roads and 102 bridges in the unincorporated areas of the county, providing the following services to the citizens of DeSoto County:

  • Road and Shoulder Maintenance
  • Overlay Program
  • Bridge Maintenance
  • Road & Drainage Maintenance
  • Road Side Limb/Debris Pick-Up
  • Mosquito Spraying
  • New Road Development
  • Fleet Management for County Vehicles
  • Beaver Control
  • Burial of Livestock as listed in Miss. Code Ann. § 19-5-15 Title 19
  • Engineering Department Oversees New Projects and Developments
