Court Security Services is responsible for the physical security of the county courthouse and protective security for county personnel and visitors. These officers also maintain security at justice court, juvenile court, and the county administration building. Court Security Officers conduct security screening at public entrances, monitor surveillance video, patrol the building and grounds, and respond to emergencies on the court house property. The Desoto County Sheriff's Department Court Security team is made up of 17 deputies, two sergeants and a lieutenant.
Court Security Officers and Bailiffs also serve in each of the individual courtrooms maintaining order and assisting court personnel. They are also responsible for transporting and escorting prisoners from jail to court appearances.
