Through Mr. Bearden's many dedicated efforts, Desoto County now enjoys such environmental programs as Household Hazardous Waste Day, an E-Waste program, and recycling programs for cardboard, paper, tires, oil, and gas. Board President, Lee Caldwell, called Mr. Bearden the Godfather of the Environmental movement in Desoto County and thanked him for his service in making Desoto County known for their commitment to the environment.
