A ceremony was held Saturday at First Baptist Church in Olive Branch. K.J. Wright was welcomed home and congratulated for becoming a Super Bowl champion as a starting linebacker for the Seattle Seahawks. Over 1000 people turned out to honor the hometown hero. Former Principal, Kyle Brigance and former Coach, Scott Samsel both spoke about K.J.'s days at Olive Branch High School. Senator David Parker presented a Senate resolution in his honor and noted Wright’s willingness to give back to his community. Olive Branch Mayor, Scott Philips awarded Wright with a key to the City. Supervisor Jessie Medlin presented K.J. with a proclamation making Saturday, February 22, 2014 K.J. Wright Day. “I watched K.J. play high school football, “ Supervisor Medlin said. “He’s a good kid, he comes back and does a camp every summer and I think that’s great.”
