[ARCHIVED] Volunteers Needed

Animal Rescue Corps (ARC), an international animal protection organization, has announced the immediate need for volunteers to care for animals rescued last Thursday, August 11, from a puppy mill in Tate County. ARC is currently sheltering one-hundred and fifteen dogs and nearly twenty-four cats at the old Servpro building in Hernando, located at 3480 Highway 51 South.

In order to coordinate volunteer efforts, Animal Rescue Corp has requested that volunteers email volunteer@animalrescuecorps.org with their desire to help, rather than showing up at the door. ARC has two volunteer shifts, one from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm and another from 1:00 pm until 5:00pm, but would like volunteers to stay all day if possible. All volunteers must be eighteen years of age or older and can not wear shorts or opened toes shoes while in the shelter.

In addition to needing volunteers to help staff the emergency shelter, ARC has also expressed the need for animal care items, such as blankets, towels, pee pads, kennels, etc., and lunches for their staff and volunteers.

ARC indicated that the DeSoto County emergency shelter could remain open for another one to two weeks, and volunteers are desperately needed during that time.

To volunteer or make a donation, please email volunteer@animalrescuecorps.org.
