The unincorporated county had 145 single family permits in 2013 leading all municipalities. Southaven had 130; Olive Branch, 80; Hernando, 48; and Horn Lake, 12; and there were no new permits for Walls. The question was asked if it looked like the trend will continue. "I hope so," said Supervisor Harvey Lee, "We picked up tremendously. Especially in the Hawks Crossing and Lewisburg areas." Mark Gardner announced, "As a Supervisor and a Realtor, I've seen the number picking up for new housing." As far as economic recovery, he said, "These reflect our great schools, affordable housing and safe neighborhoods."
