A portion of the money has been set aside for parks improvements including a new park at the Nesbit fire station, playground equipment for Fairview Park and Eudora Park and upgrades to include benches, a walkway and scenic overlook at the Hernando DeSoto Park on the Mississippi River. Engineering and architectural work including a site study and preliminary designs for 50 acres has been planned at the proposed Lewisburg Park. "This potential there is unlimited," said Ray Laughter. The District foresees tennis courts, gazebos, walking trails, disc golf and baseball/softball practice fields.
Supervisors put together a study committee that includes Laugher, Supervisor Harvey Lee and Superivisor Lee Caldwell to determine maintenance needs and a permanent easement on the property's south side.
Other ideas that were discussed were the Horn Lake Greenway, Sprinkler/Splash Park, Tennis Complex, Agri-educational Center, ARK Nature Center and Zip Lines.
