On December 6, 2021, the DeSoto County Board of Supervisors approved the adoption of updated Building and Fire Codes during public hearings.
Key updates include:
- Increased energy efficiency measures
- Size of Cul-de-sacs increased to 90 feet to better enable firetrucks to turn around
- Sprinkler systems required in residences with heated square feet of 6,500 or more
The new Building and Fire Codes will go into effect February 1, 2022 after they have been published in a local newspaper.
