At its first meeting of the year, the DeSoto County Board of Supervisors elected new officers to lead the Board in 2026.
2025 Board President, District 2 Supervisor Mark Gardner, formally passed the gavel to District 1 Supervisor Jessie Medlin, who will serve as Board President for 2026. District 3 Supervisor Ray Denison was elected Vice President.
The DeSoto County Board of Supervisors elects a President and Vice President each year as part of a longstanding tradition of rotating leadership.
The Board President and Vice President play key leadership roles, including:
- Presiding over Board meetings
- Helping guide the Board’s agenda and proceedings
- Serving as the primary signatories on official county documents and contracts
The Board thanks Supervisor Gardner for his leadership during the past year and looks forward to another year of service to the people of DeSoto County under the 2026 Board leadership.
“It’s been an honor to serve as Board President,” said Gardner. “I’m proud of the work we’ve done and confident in the leadership ahead.”
“I’m grateful for the trust of my fellow Supervisors,” said Medlin. “I look forward to continuing our work for the people of DeSoto County.”
