Circuit Court

DeSoto County is 23rd Circuit Court District. The Circuit Court tries felony criminal cases and civil actions involving issues of $200,000 and above. Juries are widely used in the circuit court.

The Circuit Court Clerk assists the court in summoning potential jurors. The Circuit Court Administrator assists the Judge by scheduling cases and preparing the court docket. The Administrators of the DeSoto County Circuit Court are Amy Young and Suzanne Lowrie.

Local Procedures for Circuit Court

Rule 7.2(a) OF THE MISSISSIPPI RULES OF CRIMINAL PROCEDURE, as amended, directs each Circuit Court to establish a procedure of the appointment of counsel for each indigent defendant.  The Twenty-First Circuit Court issued this order Establishing Local Procedures.
