Land Records & Recording

The Chancery Clerk of DeSoto County is the Custodian of Records. The Clerk’s office records all documents pertaining to real property (deeds, mortgages, assignments, releases, etc.), as well as all general instruments not necessarily related to deeds and mortgages (Power of Attorney and Health Care Directives, Federal Tax Liens, Lis Pendens, Military Discharges, Construction Liens, etc.).

Recording Online

The Chancery Clerk’s office has worked tirelessly to ensure that all public records are readily available to the public either on our website or on public terminals available in our office. Almost all records are available online, please contact us at (662)469-8397 if you have questions about how to use the website or find a record.

E-Recording

April 2020, the Clerk’s office added E-Recording as an option for our customers. This greatly reduced the turnaround time for documents and improved efficiency in the Clerk’s office.

Recording Fees

Recording fees are determined by statute per Mississippi Code. Please use our fee calculator to determine the correct amount to be submitted with your document.

Foreclosure Sale Notices

Foreclosure Sale notices are posted in the Courthouse by the Chancery Clerk’s office. They are also posted online for your convenience. The Chancery Clerk’s office is only required to post the notice. We do not have information about the sale. Please read the notice and contact the trustee for information about the sale.

The recording office is located at 311 W South Street, Suite C, in Hernando. You can visit our office in person or contact us through email or phone, (662) 469-8397.
